Project Background ATMS’s Inputs Rice Farming: Kilombero Plantations • Originally formed as Mngeta Farms in the 1980s • Privatized in 2007 after years of neglect • Focuses on cultivation of rice and beans • Implements an environmentally-friendly rice farming methodology – System of Rice Intensification (SRI) • Supports smallholder rice farmers • 2 Technical Experts seconded

Project Background ATMS’s Inputs Poultry Farming: New Horizons • Small, start-up poultry processing company • Located in northern Mozambique • Has a hatchery facility producing up to 45,000 chicks per week • 15,000 chicks supplied to subsistence farmers in the community • Mature chickens are purchased from subsistence farmers • Products: chickens and eggs • 2 Technical Experts seconded • Grant funding provided by ATMS Foundation

Sample Impact of AMSCO/ATMS Built a 6,200m2warehouse facility that is made available to smallholder farmers to store grain - Kilombero Plantations Access to finance: Savings schemes: 2,100 farmers Bank accounts: 709 farmers Formal credit: 171 farmers - Kilimo Trust Trained over 12,000 smallholder farmers on environmentally friendly cotton farming methods - Rift Valley Products Increased maize yields by over 34,000 tonnes per cropping season across 3 countries - Kilimo Trust Produced and sold 5,000 tonnes of briquettes, saving an estimated 8,000 trees - Lean Energy Solutions 21,000 farmers supported to improve land productivity - Kilimo Trust 1,810 tonnes of rice harvested within 2 years of AMSCO/ATMS intervention - Kilombero Plantations Micro-leasing of agricultural assets including cattle, sheep, etc. - Juhudi Kilimo Assisted over 165,000 farmers establish or grow their businesses through the provision of affordable irrigation equipment and education - KickStart Created market linkages between over 2,600 farmers and 143 traders - Kilimo Trust 1,567% increase in independent poultry farmers (suppliers) from 12 to 200 - New Horizons
