  2. Do you want to set goals the right way? • Important to set goals with a clear and well defined goal statement • There is a SMART way and a lazy way • SMART goals guarantee you have the right elements to achieve success

  3. WHAT IS A SMART GOAL?

  4. S- SPECIFIC • Do you know exactly what you want to accomplish with all the details? • Goals must be well defined. • They must be clear and unambiguous Take a few minutes practicing this. Think of a specific thing you would like to accomplish and write it down.

  5. M-Measurable • Can you quantify your progress so you can track it? • Define specific criteria for measuring your progress toward accomplishing your goal. • Take a few minutes and write down how you will be able to measure it.

  6. A- Attainable • Is your goal a challenge but still possible to achieve? • Goals must be achievable. • The best goals require you to stretch a bit to achieve them. • You don’t want to set a goal that is too out of your reach.

  7. R-Realistic • Is your goal realistic and within your reach? • Are you willing to commit to your goal? • Almost certainly your goal is realistic if your truly believe you can accomplish it.

  8. R-Relevent • Is your goal relevant to your life purpose? • Is it in line with your beliefs or values? • Your goal must be consistent with other goals established and fits within your immediate and long-term plans?

  9. T-Time Bound • Does your goal have a deadline? • Goals need a clearly defined time frame • This should include starting date and ending date • If you don’t give yourself a deadline to reach it there is no sense of urgency and procrastinate

  10. Goal Examples • Here are some goals examples. You determine whether they are SMART of lazy: • I want to have a lot of money. • I want to make one million within 10 years by starting an internet marketing business selling personal develop products all over the world and by providing life coaching consultancy and conducting live seminars.

  11. Goal Examples • “I want to lose weight”. • “I want to lose 20 lbs by April 15th 2008. I will perform a half hour of cardio and half hour of strength training per day, five days a week. I will also limit my calories to 1500 and keep a diary of what I eat.”

  12. As you can see setting SMART goals are crucial to being successful. • Once you have a goal clearly defined you must have an action plan in order to make it happen • Goals don’t magically happen just because you write the goal down • ACTION IS THE KEY TO REACHING IT!
