Think of ALL parties that have relationships with your competitors. 4. Pursue anomalies--don’t ignore them. 5. Thoroughly read important documents (SEC filings as an example). 6. Understand that a single search can identify “clients of” as well as “vendors to” a competitor. 7. Verify EVERYTHING found on the Net with other trusted sources

Value of Monitoring the Web • Internet has become the de facto standard for delivery of business information--it’s critical to keep up with competitors’ activities. • Watch whole Web for mention of your company/competitor, products, executives… • Also--monitor competitor’s pages for news, SEC filings, job postings, new products, contracts, new ventures, markets entry, expansion plans… • Save time by automating routine “searching.”
