Payment via eTime for tutoring work • Tutors are paid via an online system called “eTime” • Accessed via My Ed and your STAFF UUN • Standard claims are: taking tutorial, marking (UG only), post tutorial admin – see eTime guidance) • Guidance will be circulated and is available at: https://edin.ac/2pjc3ve • Follow the guidance to avoid problems and delays (see eTime guidance) • Tutors enter hours themselves • Tutoring Payments are verified and processed by UTO/GSO • Help available: drop-in at reception desk at end/beginning of month • Email: sps.tutoring@ed.ac.uk
New for 1819:Payment for Standard Work New this year: All courses with tutors now have standardised payrate models • See Teaching wiki (staff login needed) • Also link online oneTime guidance page • These are the agreed rates for your work on the course. • Work will be paid as per the agreed rates
Payment via eTime for Ad hoc • Ad hoc claims are things that aren’t tutoring; • Anythingnot in thetutor manual or on the pay rates wiki • eg: moderation, lecturing, research, PG marking • Get in touch before undertaking the work • There is a process for such work which will ensure payment • We can only process claims that we are aware of • The person asking you undertake ad hoc work may not have informed anyone. • Contact to a Subject Secretary (SASO) or the UTO/GSO – BEFOREyou do the work or submit a claim Otherwise claim may be rejected • NB – Ad hoc claims are usually processed or paid by a different team (not the UG/PG Offices)
New for 1819:Training for GDPR To comply with updates to the General Data Protection Regulation, 2018 (GDPR), all staff must complete two online training courses • Information Security Essentials • Data Protection Training. These are Learn self- enrol courses. You can access the course under the teaching tab of your STAFF MyEd portal, or directly at http://www.learn.ed.ac.uk/ and login with your STAFF MyEdlogn. Once in Learn, select the self-enrol option from the top right. From here you can find the Data Protection Training course and enrol. Each course includes an assessment that must be completed. Guidance can be found at https://edin.ac/2FjCKt7 Tutors can claim 1 hour for each course passed (2 hours in total).
Attendance registers – online tool • Use your STAFF UUN • Use the link on My Ed (on teaching tab) to take the register in class • Link also available on central PCs and tablets issues by the school • Course Secretaries will set up the tutorials groups • Attendance can be taken directly in the class room using a PC, smart phone or tablet • Instructions and guidance will be emailed to tutors by Friday • Familiarise yourself with the system by taking attendance in Week 2, taking attendance is mandatory from week 3 • NB – Student attendance at a tutorial does not equate to participation
New tutors: devices for attendance taking • Drop in session delivered by SPS IT Help and Consultancy Details to be circulated next week. • At these sessions: • Receive advice on how to use the new EUCLID tool • Devices (usually tablets) issued to those who might need one • Help with setting up on your own device • Queries in the mean time? • Drop by reception desk or email: sps.tutoring@ed.ac.uk
Contracts & staff UUNS • Tutors with existing contracts – extension has been requested • Euclid attendance Registers from week 2 • Make sure you use your Staff UUN (if you have problems, see central IS) • Letter of extension (not a new contract) • New tutors – Contracts being raised • Contracts beginning to come through – hoping to have all in place by the end of week 2 (25th) at the latest. • May impact attendance registers (paper registers will be permitted) • NB Current PhD students will have TWO UUNS and two email addresses • You MUST use your staff UUN for access to etime and attendance registers
