Lord of the Flies – Compare/Contrast Essay • Trade your introduction with your neighbor. • Check to make sure that your neighbor’s introduction is not missing any pieces of the introduction structure. • Hook • Background • Transition Sentence • Thesis Statement • Any punctuation, spelling, capitalization, grammar or wording errors you see should be marked.
Body Paragraphs • Topic Sentence – This sentence tells your reader what this body paragraph is going to be about (general). • Detail Sentence(s) – Your paragraph may have many detail sentences. The detail sentences tell your reader more about your topic. Each detail sentence includes an ONEEXAMPLE. • Explanation Sentence – This sentence follows your detail sentence and explains to your reader how your example helps to prove your thesis statement. For each example you use, you need to explain it. • Transition/Concluding Sentence – This sentence wraps up what you have told the reader and gets them ready for the next paragraph.
