  3. We do science really well at Shirley Manor . • Up to press we are the only school in Bradford to be awarded the gold award in Primary Science. • Have a look at a snap shot of what we do which impressed the assessors.

  4. New curriculum. Plants, Animals, including Humans. Everyday materials, seasonal changes. Living things and their habitats, ,Animals including humans, Evolution and inheritance, Light, Electricity, Living things and their habitats, Plants ,Animals including humans, Uses of everyday materials, Living things and their habitats, ,Animals including humans, Properties and changes of materials. Earth and space, Forces. Plants ,Animals including humans, rocks,Light,Forces and magnets. Living things and their habitats, ,Animals including humans, states of matter, sound, Electricity

  5. Skills. • Have a look at some of the scientific skills required per age group. • Copies of this can be found on the shared drive.

  6. Ofsted science report from schools November 2013 the highlights. • A cross curricular approach to science teaching made good proogress.eg coupling literacy with science. Practical skills underpin scientific knowledge= success • 6 features linked to achievement of science • Increasingly accurate assessment • A high profile accorded to science . • Full science coverage of NC. • Strong links between literacy and science. • Staff who were confident in teaching pupils scientifically. • Regular monitoring of achievement in science for individuals and groups of pupils. • Children need to plan . Carry out and evaluate investigations independently. Achievement of PSQM helped to raise the profile of science within school.

To conclude. • Science is still high on the agenda . • An assessment sheet is being created and will be available on the shared drive. • All this information is available on the shared drive. • An exciting week of events is planned for science week 2014. 14th-23rd March. • If you need any help or information just ask . • Biology joke : Biology is the only science in which multiplication is the same as division. At least its cross curricular.
