  2. What is a Trophic Level? A Trophic level is a representation of an organism’s point in a food chain.

  3. What is a Trophic Level Pyramid? A Trophic level pyramid is a representation of a food chain. It not only shows the order in which organisms feed, but the amount of biomass that is transferred as you move up each Trophic level.

  4. What is the 10% Rule? The 10% rule tells us that only 10% of the biomass is transferred from one Trophic level to the next. This is an example.

  5. The Agave Plant 1 kg of biomass As you move up each Trophic level, you lose 90% of the previous level’s biomass to every day things like heat and movement. The Western Whiptail 10 kg of biomass The Kangaroo Rat 100 kg of biomass The Cricket 1,000 kg of biomass
