  2. EL Rincon Mission • El Rincon’s mission is to provide an environment that prepares students to develop necessary skills to be successful in tomorrow’s global community. Our state-of-the-art science and computer labs support our goal of providing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) education. STEM education is an interdisciplinary approach where academic concepts are coupled with real world applications. Our continued emphasis on literacy includes extensive reading and both academic and creative writing across all content areas.

  4. What is Title I Title I is a K-12 program that provides additional academic support and learning opportunities for students. The program is intended to help ensure that all students meet state academic standards.

  6. Parent Involvement The School Site Council (SSC) provides parents with an opportunity to be involved in the academic program of the school. The SSC develops, monitors, and evaluates the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) to implement programs and services that support students.

  8. School Achievement Data • Schools analyze CST and CELDT results and review AYP and API status. • Schools use the data to align curriculum to state and district academic standards. • Schools adjust instructional practices based on the findings of the assessment data.

  13. Single Plan for Students Achievement • Parents are informed about the school’s curriculum in English/ Language Arts and Math, as well as other core subjects. • Parents also receive information about the assessments used to measure student progress in these academic areas.

Single Plan for Student Achievement GOAL #1: English Language Arts85% of kindergarten through 1st grade students will meet or exceed district benchmarks for ELA each year.The percentage of students in grades 2-5 scoring at the proficient or advanced level in ELA will meet the 2012-13 AYP target of 89.2% as measured by the California Standards Test. English Language Learner Students and Social-Economically Disadvantaged Students(SED) will make gains to meet safe harbor. Goal #2: WritingFirst through fifth grade teachers will administer a minimum of three (Kindergarten two) writing prompts aligned to their grade-level writing standards where 80% of their students will score a 3 or above by the end of the 2012-2013 school year.Goal #3: MathematicsThe percentage of students in grades 2-5 scoring at the proficient or advanced level in Math will meet the 2012-13 AYP target of 89.5% as measured by the California Standards Test.

Single Plan for Student Achievement • Goal #4: ScienceThe percentage of students in grade 5 scoring at the proficient or advanced level in Science will increase 3% based in the 2011-2012 CST scores. • Goal #5: Sub-group Proficiency The percentage of English Language Learners (ELL) in grades 2-5 scoring at the proficient or advanced level in Math will increase 10% based on Safe Harbor measures by the end of the 2012-13 school year as measured by the California Standards Test. The percentage of Socioeconomically Disadvantaged Students (SED) in grades 2-5 scoring at the proficient or advanced level in Language Arts will increase 10% based on Safe Harbor measures by the end of the 2012-13 school year as measured by the California Standards Test.

  16. Title I Funds [Federal Funds] • Allocated on basis of number of students eligible for free/reduced lunch. Schools receive Title I funds if 40% or more of students are eligible for free/reduced lunch. Services focus on student in need of academic support to achieve grade level standards.

  17. Title I Funds (cont.) • One percent of a school’s total Title I budget is for parent involvement activities. • Schools in Program Improvement must set aside a minimum of 10% for professional development. • Funds must supplement, not supplant, district funds.

  18. The Title I Parent Involvement Policy Every Title I school, in collaboration with parents, must prepare a site level parent involvement policy. The Parent Involvement Policy describes how the school will involve the parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely way in the planning, review, and improvement of the Title I program at the school.

  19. Our Title I Parent Involvement Policy Provide copies of the school’s Title I Parent Involvement Policy and invite input from parents. Describe how the Policy is distributed to parents each year.

  20. Home/School Compact The Home/School Compact describes the responsibilities of the school, the parent, and the student for improved student achievement.

  21. The Home/School Compact (cont.) • Developed in collaboration among parents, teachers and students. • Updated periodically. • It is recommended that compacts be standards-based. • Distributed with site Title I Parent Involvement Policy.

  22. Our Home/School Compact Review your current Home/School Compact, how it was developed, how it is reviewed and revised as needed, and how and when it is distributed to parents.
