Interim ALAC • 10 members (2 per Region) appointed by the Transition Board in January 2003 • Africa: Clement Dzidonu (Co-Vice Chair), Pierre Dandjinou • Asia/Pacific: Hong Xue, Izumi Aizu • Europe: Vittorio Bertola (Chair), Thomas Roessler • Latin America: Erick Iriarte Ahon (Co-Vice Chair), Sebastian Ricciardi • North America: Esther Dyson, Wendy Seltzer • 5 more members to be appointed by NomCom

The Fundamental Design • Advisory Committee established by the new Bylaws • Mission is to give individual Internet users a specific voice in the ICANN process • Advocacy, not representation • Rely upon existing organizations and active persons to jumpstart – don’t try to reinvent the wheel • Get involved with policy-making in the early stages of the process through Task Force and Council liaisons

ALAC involvement in the process • Appointed 5 voting NomCom delegates • Christian Ahlert (Europe), Leopoldo Brandt (Latin America), Pavan Duggal (Asia / Pacific), Bret Fausett (North America),Didier Kasole (Africa) • 1 non-voting Board liaison: • not yet (will be appointed with the new Board) • Sent non-voting liaisons to other bodies: • GNSO Council: Thomas Roessler • Sent liaisons to Task Forces: • GNSO WHOIS TF: Thomas Roessler • GNSO UDRP Review TF: Hong Xue • GNSO gTLD Cmt. / TEAC: Wendy Seltzer

  6. RALOs • Regional At Large Organizations • Interface between ALAC and existing organizations (“at-large structures”) • RALOs will enter MoUs with ICANN • To be formed; one per Region

At Large Structures • Existing user organizations • Open, self-sustaining • Focused predominantly on individuals • Provide local forums for discussion • Will undergo accreditation process • Examples: • Computer user associations • Consumers’ associations • Civil society / rights organizations • …
