A Liaison Inquiry to China WPAN - July 2010 Authors: Abstract: China WPAN liaison proposal – July 2010 Xiaoming Peng, Liang Li
Background • In May, on Beijing meeting, IEEE802.11ad passed the D0.1 draft. • China WPAN (CWPAN) members had a chance to communicate with IEEE members and understand the status of IEEE802.11ad and IEEE802.11ac. • IEEE802 and CWPAN agreed to share the information and even go to an united Standard later. Xiaoming Peng, Liang Li
Current Status of China mm-Wave Standard • Update of “Gigabit Wireless Network in mm-Wave bands” in China • Exporting Issues: Test equipment in the range of 60GHz (above 50GHz) to be exported to China is under pending It implies that products compliant to IEEE 802.11ad may not be manufactured or sold on China market • Frequency Band Issues: It is being under consideration in China WPAN GHz project group to use the mm-Wave band from 42GHz to 50GHz as well – discussion with Chinese Authority (SRRC) is ongoing • Performance Issues: Chinese Authority (SRRC) approved the usage of 59-64GHz band which is corresponding to 2 bands with 2.16GHz bandwidth according to the band plan adopted in IEEE 802.11ad. • It implies that product compliant to IEEE 802.11ad may not be able to support enough number of networks simultaneously (less than 3 networks) in China Market • Discussion with SRRC for further opening spectrum from 56GHz to 58GHz is needed Xiaoming Peng, Liang Li
Action • IEEE802. 11(ad??) assigns one liaison in charge of communicating China WPAN GHZ project group on “Gigabit Wireless Network in mm-Wave bands” • CPWAN encourages members in IEEE802.11ad/ac to attend CWPAN “mm-Wave” standard meeting • IEEE co-works with CWPAN to find the common interests and possible solutions on GHZ concerning issues Xiaoming Peng, Liang Li
