Mobility Many types of wheelchairs; best to get assessed by an independent wheelchair assessment provider such as Younkers Rehabilitation Center, where they will also apply for funding for you. Many types and levels of vehicle modifications; best to get assess by an independent driving assessment provider. Buses are becoming more and more amenable with service hours and routes. Personal driver paid through programs such as Community Choice Options funded through DHS. Also funds home health aids for personal hygiene and health needs Physical Functions
Physical Functions • Accessing the computer or computerized devices • Laptops and desktops • Consider speech recognition programs such as Window’s built-in speech recognition program & Dragon Naturally Speaking/Dragon Dictate. Computer must be on at all times and set to be activated with the person’s voice. • Consider purchasing phone service through the internet to enable total hands free access to phone service. • Consider purchasing whole home environmental controls. • Physically turning pages of a book • Electronic books • Learning Ally: www.learningally.org • Bookshare: www.bookshare.org • Free ebooks: www.gutenberg.org • Scan but you’ll still need software to control the scanned pages
