About • Monitored using cameras and pugmark counts. • There are about 35 to 40 of these leopards left. • Live in the southern areas of eastern Russia. • Lives in colder climates so it has a heavier coat than most leopards in Africa or India. • The Amur Leopard and Tiger alliance or (ALTA) have a program that works to preserve these Leopards. • Poachers are tracked down and their rifles are confiscated. 500 rifles have been taken so far. • These people travel on horseback, jeeps, and trucks.
How Endangered • Already has a tiny population. • Forest fires set each year. • Deforestation • Poachers • Disease among a small population. In same area. • Vulnerable to inbreeding depression, and natural disasters.
