  2. We focused our attention on: • Creating a Comprehensive First-Year Experience • Math Advising • College Student Inventory – Intrusive Advising • Evaluating and Revising IDS 101: College Success Strategies Course

  3. Pre-enrollment Program • Targets Nontraditional Students and Last-minute Applicants • Free Eight-week Course to Aid Students in Overcoming Initial Barriers • Assistance with the application and FAFSA • Career Exploration • Organization and Time Management • Math Refresher • Writing Refresher • Computer Literacy Skills – Blackboard, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point • Preparation for Accuplacer Testing • First-year Academic Plan

  4. Outcome Highlights

MathStart • Free ten-week course that targets students who are below placement only in developmental math. • Conditional start status permits enrollment in 10 credit hours. • Subsequent enrollment contingent on passing the course, retaking the arithmetic subtest, and placing into a math course.

  6. MathStart • 72 (74%) were successful completers in 2010-2011 • Students average gain on retake of Accuplacerarithmetic subtest = 26 points
