Iwo Jima Memorial • It was made to look like the picture taken at the top of Mount Suribachi on Febuary 23rd, 1945 • The men are thirty-two feet tall and the flag pole is sixty feet long • The men in the photo are Sgt. Michael Strank, Cpl. Harlon Block, Pfc. Franklin Sousley, Pfc. Rene Gagnon, Pfc. Ira Hayes, and Pm2 John Bradley

  4. This picture has an emotional appeal. It evokes a feeling of extreme pride and patriotism. What emotion(s) does this picture make you feel? Appeal

  5. There are a lot of blue and white in the background because of the fireworks. The statue is cast in bronze but the current lighting in the picture makes it look gray. The flag is waving in the wind and looks like a red blur. Color

  6. The intended audience is those who were visiting Washington, D.C. and the memorials there. The real audience is everybody who has seen the memorial to those who have lost a loved one who served to those who actually served Audience

  7. The photographer used the very little lighting of the fireworks and the flood light to create the mood of the picture Technique
