  5. Technique: SL / SLA Material: Epoxy (havana brown) Polyamide (white) Color: Havana Brown / White Dimensions: 52 x 12 x 14cm The design of the dragon is 80 years old . To celebrate this milestone a unique model has been made. The model was created using Johan Anker’s original body plan drawings, which he made in 1929 Shown on both sides of the model is the text ‘Dragon 80’. The technique used to produce this model is selective laser, which is a rapid manufacturing technology using a laser to build up the model in epoxy. The base is made of Alucompact. A limited series of only 80 pieces will be made of this model. Each model will therefore have a serial number on the base. The model will be packed in a special wooden case for transport and storage 5 GROOT1929-Johan Anker-2009

  6. DESIGNED BY: ERIK GROOT Erik Groot was born in Enkhuizen in Holland, but moved to Eindhoven in 1990. After studying at the academy for industrial design he worked for 14 years at Philips, the electronics company. Four years ago he founded his own design studio in Eindhoven. He now works for sevaral companies, creating and co-producing his designs. Always interested in the latest technologies, he came into contact whith the selective lasering technique. This technique gives the designer the freedom to create any possible design without the use of a mould. Also he is allready sailing the dragon for allready for 29 years. So with this years celebration that 80 years ago Johan Anker designed the dragon he used the SL technique to design this object of the dragon. The model has been designed using the original body plan drawings from 1929. Although the model is not a replica, it shows the shape and body plan of Johan Anker’s design. 6 GROOT 1929-Johan Anker-2009
