Dear Colleagues and Friends, I t is a great pleasure to invite you to join the 1st International Conference on combating Ccardiovascular diseases and Diabetes: “from old paradigms to new concepts”. The meeting will take place in Istanbul – Turkey (27th-30th November 2009) and it is under the auspices of Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. The program will address topics related to myocardial ischaemia, heart failure, arrhythmias, hypertension , diabetes and metabolic disorders, nutrition and nutrigenomics and brain–heart interactions in cardiac disease. This meeting will highlight novel achievements in cardiopreservation strategies and potential new therapeutic approaches for treating heart disease and diabetes. Participation of international experts will give this conference an international status. Last but not least, we do strongly believe that the presence of His All Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in this Conference will be the triggering mechanism for the awakening of Christian Culture cradle located in Istanbul-Constantinople, keeping in mind that it has been kept alive. We are sincerely honored by the presence and support of His All Holiness, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and we all do cordially wish a great success to his difficult Humanistic and Christianic mission, worldwide.
