  2. What is a flip-top? • A flip-top is a device that serves as an “alternate cover” for the PlayStation 2. • Looks the same as the regular cover, except it opens in the middle.

  3. What is a flip-top? -Normal PS2 -PS2 w/ flip-top

  4. What is it for? • Swap Magic™: allows you to overcome the region-specificity of the system. • Import games. • Much easier than installing a mod chip. • PS3s are region specific with PS2 games.

  5. What do I need to install the flip-top? • The flip-top • A small Philips screwdriver • An appreciable amount of free time • Patience

  6. Installing the flip-top • Turn the console over and remove the six screws on the bottom. • Watch out for the screws that have covers over them.

  7. Installing the flip-top • Turn it back over and remove the cover starting from the top left hand corner of the system.

  8. Installing the flip-top • Remove the top left corner first, then the bottom left, and then the rest of the cover.

  9. Installing the flip-top • The PS2 should now appear as displayed below.

  10. Installing the flip-top • Unscrew the two small screws under the cover on the top left side.

  11. Installing the flip-top • Lift the cover up about halfway and then gently slide it off.

  12. Installing the flip-top • The PS2 cover should now appear as displayed below.

  13. Installing the flip-top • Now the flip-top can be installed. Gently slide it in the same way you slid the original cover out. • Make sure the spring is oriented correctly!

  14. Installing the flip-top • After the flip-top is in securely, turn the cover back over and screw the 2 small screws back in.

  15. Installing the flip-top • Carefully attach the newly reassembled cover back to the other half of the console.

  16. Installing the flip-top • Turn the console over, put the six screws back in and put the screw covers on.

  17. Installing the flip-top • Flip the console over and you’re done! • Pick yourself up a copy of Swap Magic™ and enjoy your PS2s’ region-free capability.
