  2. Introductions President– Doug Trutzl Vice Presidents – Bill Grice, Wendi Newman Treasurer – Mike Bjorne Secretary – Dina Severns Board Members - Ron Froehlich, Marc Mellor, Rich Whitman, Ron Slater, Nicole Noll-Williams, Aaron Brumfield, Crystal Knight, Wendy Baker, Jon Nehf

Overview of DJP • Established in 1995 to promote organized and structured football and cheerleading within the community of DeWitt. • A feeder program to prepare athletes for the Dewitt High School Football and Cheer teams. • Teach and promote fair play and good sportsmanship • Provide a safe and healthy environment for youth in order that they may develop athletic skills and advocate teamwork; • Develop team spirit, camaraderie, and leadership skills through cheerleading

Overview of DJP continued • Offer youth athletes with training, coaching, and other related resources necessary for healthy competition; • Encourage all those who desire and are able to participate • Provide a service for the betterment of the community; and • Promote the development of the athlete as a total person, including but not limited to academics, sportsmanship, self-discipline, self-reliance, and teamwork

Registration and Membership • June 30th – End of Regular Registration - $125 • July 1 – July 31th End of Late Registration - $150 • Importance of Fundraisers • Join a Committee – We’re a volunteer organization and need your assistance. • Volunteers – Minimum 6 hrs. per family per season • Scholarships – Please contact Mike Bjorne at mikeb71@comcast.net

  6. Health & Safety • Physicals – Must be between April 15 & August 11, 2014. • IMPORTANT - Players will not be allowed to start conditioning if a COPY of their physical and the ORIGINAL waiver form are not turned in during registration on August 11, 2014. See the DJP website for printable forms. • DJP will need a COPY of both sides of your Child’s physical form. We will NOT accept the original physical form (see special note below). • Medications & Allergies – Please notify a DJP Board Member on the 1st day of conditioning and also your head coach when they are assigned to a team. Special Note – Please keep your original Physical Card. DeWitt Public Schools or other sports programs may require you to turn in a physical card for participation in their programs as well. DJP does not share your Child’s information (registration or physical card information…) with other organizations.

  9. New for 2014 • Registration by school child is attending • Concussion Forms • Targeting • Kick off • Separate 4th and 5th grade teams

  10. Coaching Cheerleading and Football • Head Coach & Assistant Coach – Football application deadline is May 12, 2014. Cheer application deadline is June 20th, 2014. Applications are available on the DJP Website. • A Head Coach may select one (1) Assistant Coach for the upcoming season prior to team selection. • Independent Interview Panel for Coach Selection • Background check for all Coaches and Assistants • Coaches Clinic with Previous DJP Coaches

  11. Equipment-Football • Provided by DJP • 2 game day jerseys (1 home & 1 away) • Game pants • Belt • Mouth piece • Equipment provided by players/parents • Helmet • Shoulder pads • Girdle/All in one • Knee pads • Football Cleats • Practice pants • Practice Jersey • Athletic Supporter

  12. Equipment-Football, cont. • Uniforms must be returned clean at the year-end banquets. • Recommended Vendors to Purchase Equipment • Johnny Mac’s, Athlete’s Connection & Dick’s Sporting Goods

  13. Equipment-Cheer • Provided by DJP • Uniform (vest & skirt) • Gear bag • Provided by participant • Navy blue bodysuit • Navy tank top • Navy blue bloomers (lollis, spanx, etc) • White cheer shoes • Uniforms must be returned clean at the year-end banquets.

Cheerleading • Cheerleading Coaches Clinic – DeWitt High School • TBA • Conditioning and Practices - DeWitt Junior High Campus • Begins August 12th6:00pm – 8:00pm • Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in August • Summer Camp – DeWitt High School • August 14th9:00am – 3:00pm • Team Selection • Uniforms – Distribution • Team Parent Representatives
