Recent Development Extension of supply and demand for Goho-Wood • “Act for Promoting the Use of Wood in Public Buildings” requests central/local governments to use as much wood as possible in the construction of public buildings. The Basic Principle of the Act strongly encourages to use legality-verified wood. • Incentive programs for long-term quality house • provide subsidy for the use of legality-verified wood • Wood-Use Point is issued on the purchase of legality-verified wood products, and can be exchanged with agricultural products, etc. purchase Wood-Use Point

Further efforts・・・ • Promotion for consumers • Raising awareness of consumers on Goho-wood through exhibitions, cooperation with DIY shops, use of internet and DVD, etc. • Improvement on credibility of legality verification system • Monitoring of verification practice (tbd) • Establishing database of suppliers • Collect information of the verification efforts in producing countries
