Coaching Philosophy Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are. (John Wooden) My Role • Be a Great Teacher (Loyalty, Integrity, and Teamwork) • Teach a Strong Work Ethic (Expect the Best) • Instill the Drive to Win and Excel (Goals) • Care About Each Individual as a Person (Role, Empower, Realistic)
Playing Time • Varsity • Competitive • Best Nine not Nine Best • 12-15 Players • Underclassmen May Play Some JV/C Games for More Playing Time • Junior Varsity • Competitive • Learning Environment • Players Moved Down for More Playing Time (20 Games) • Freshman/Sophomore (C-Team) • Instructional Learning Environment • # of Games? • Must be Flexible with Playing Time • Schedule a Constant Change
Player’s Role • Practice Theory • Intense: Preparation removes pressure and builds confidence. • Be There: Fundraising, practice, camp, etc. • Teamwork • Out of position? Sacrifice builds character. • Individual accomplishments are a byproduct rather than the goal of genuine teamwork.
Player Misconceptions Fun vs. Hard Work Criticism puts someone down, correction means we want to help. • Punishment is for the punisher (to make them feel better). • Discipline always has the other persons’ best interest in mind. Development of Champions off of the Field Live in the present, not the past, and let the coach worry about the future.

Minimum of 10 Cases of Juice/Schedule • 2 bags of apples equates to one case of juice/schedule. • Money Goes Towards: • Field Maintenance • Coats, Helmets, Bats, etc. • Incentives? • Due Date: MARCH 14 • Undershirt Required (T a good idea too) • Make Checks Payable to Prostock • Purchase Hats Separately • Take check to me (EVYB) • Due Date: FEBRUARY 27 (WED)
