  3. PRE-DP YEAR • Foundation year – orientation to IB • A minimum of 28 courses • Making the grade: SL = 7 HL = 8 • Tests – every six/seven weeks • Retests – after each period • Upgrade test – 9.6 – can upgrade any course in any subject

  4. SPECIAL ACTIVITIES • Tutor Evening 21.8 • Boot Camp 22-23.8 • Graduation ceremony 30.9 • Sports Day 3.9 • Etis 50th anniversary 8.11 • International Day 14.11 • Independence Day celebrations 5.12 It is not all work and no play, you see!

  6. IB CHOICES • Subject choices should be made before the end of March 2013 • Detailed syllabus guidance will be provided on 12.3.2013 at 18.30 • IB course tray depends upon numbers – a minimum of seven

  9. IB IN A NUTSHELL • 6 subjects 3 HL and 3 SL • 3 testweeks + mocks • 100 hours of TOK • 150 hours of CAS • 4000 wordExtendedEssay • Points: 24-45 30+ is above average and 35 willgetstudents into ”good” universities

  10. 13IB CLASS • Atmosphere in the class - very good, intellectual even. • Issues – feel free to send a wilma message or meet up • Study guidance – Kati-opo is here to help • Welfare support is readily available • Independent study is possible. See study guide for details • Saturday school: 28.9, 23.11, 29.3 • Absences – all absences must be explained!
