  1. Creating Jazz Links for eText Janet Marhefka Created: June 2011

  2. Introduction This document is intended to assist the BU with creating Jazz links for the eText team to ingest. It will cover two different types: Option 1: Linking from eText to a Jazz basket Option 2: Linking from eText to specific keywords

  3. Before you begin! • Jazz products must be live in order for URL links to baskets or keywords can be created. • To retrieve links, you will need access to the Jazz deeplink utility tool. If you do not have access to this tool, contact contact Steve Gagliostro at: steven.gagliostro@pearson.com. • Jazz products must be set up in SMS and added to the appropriate access codes in order for users to seamlessly enter via Single Sign On (SSO).

  4. Option 1: Linking from eText to a Jazz basket

  5. Linking from eText to a Jazz basket Linking from eText to a particular basket in Jazz, such as the TOC or Resources baskets, are able to be automatically generated via an export. These links can be retrieved by using the deeplink utility tool for Jazz.

  6. Generating links to a Jazz basket Follow these steps to export your product and retrieve the basket URL links: • Make sure Jazz product is live and that you have the appropriate product key. • Login to the Jazz deeplink utility tool here:http://jazz.pearsoncmg.com/jazz/deepLinkURL/display.do • Add the product key in for the product you wish to create links for. • Select: Basket DeepLink from the “DeepLink Type” pulldown menu. • Click on: Export URLs to Spreadsheet (button).

  7. Option 2: Linking from eText to specific keywords

  8. Linking to specific keywords Business units can also create Jazz links that, upon being selected in eText, will send users to searched results for a specific keyword. Creating these links is a manual process and will need to be generated one at a time.

  9. Generating links to specific keywords in Jazz The following are the steps to creating those links: • Make sure Jazz product is live and that you have the appropriate product key. • Login to the Jazz deeplink utility tool here:http://jazz.pearsoncmg.com/jazz/deepLinkURL/display.do • Add the product key in for the product you wish to create links for. • Select: Query DeepLink from the “DeepLink Type” pulldown menu. • In Search Keyword: Type in the keyword you would like to generate a link for. • Optional fields: Select Resource Type, and Content Class • Add link to the eText Hotspot or Custom Basket spreadsheet following the respective guidelines on our wiki: http://cmsna.pearson.com/groups/etext/wiki/c50b9/Production_Higher_EdSchool_Spreadsheet_Workflow.html.

  10. Adding links to eText spreadsheets • After you generate the Jazz links they will need to be added to the eText Custom Hotspot or Custom Basket spreadsheet for ingestion. • Refer to the Custom Hotspot or Custom Basket guidelines for instructions on how cells within the spreadsheets should be filled out.
