  15. Activity: Responding to Images of Africa • Directions: Write an acrostic poem describing what you discovered about Africa’s diversity. Use your notes from the handout to help you. Your poem must include the following parts to receive full credit (a rubric is used for grading): • Six short stanzas. Stanzas may very in length; some may be three lines, while others may be longer (three minimum) • The first letter of each of the poem’s stanzas will be A, F, R, I, C, and A, respectively, to spell out AFRICA • The first word of stanza one must begin with the letter A. • A reference to at least six types of diversity in Africa: economy, architecture, social class, environment, clothing, technology, and religion • Decorate your poem with images of African culture • Place your poem on construction paper with your notes on “images of Africa” on the back
