  2. Oxyacids: An inorganic acid whose molecules contain oxygen, such as sulfic or nitric acid. Ex: H2SO4 (Sulfic Acid) HNO3 (Nitric Acid)

  3. Oxyacid Endings: -ite Change to -ous +acid Examples: Nitrite- Nitrous Acid HNO2 Sulfite- Sulfous Acid H2SO3 Hyporchlorite- Hypochlorous Acid HClO -ate Change to -ic +acid Examples: Nitrate – Nitric Acid HNO3 Bromate- Bromic Acid HBrO3 Chlorate- Chloric Acid HClO3

  4. Binary Acids: Certain molecular compounds in which hydrogen is combined with a second nonmetallic element. Ex: HF HCl

  5. Binary Acid Endings: Hydro (root)ic Acid Examples: Bromine HBr Hydrobromic Acid Chlorine HCl Hydrochloric Acid Florine Hydrofloric Acid HF

  6. Strong Acid: The strength of an acid refers to its ability or tendency to lose a proton. H2SO4 Sulfic Acid HCl Hydrocloric Acid HBr Hydrobromic Acid HI Hydroiodic Acid HNO3 Nitric Acid HCl4 Perchloric Acid
