  2. What is a main clause? A main clause could be a sentence all by itself.

  4. Define a simple sentence. A simple sentence has one subject, one predicate, and expresses a complete thought; it is one main clause.

  5. Define a compound sentence. A compound sentence is two main clauses joined together.

  7. Define a complex sentence. A complex sentence is made up of one main clause and at least one subordinate clause.
