  2. The School of Health Professions The School of Health Professions offers undergraduate and graduate programs in Health and Human Performance, Nursing, and Physical Therapy.

  3. Health and Human Performance Health and Human Performance is a specific department within the School of Health Professions. We offer the following degree programs: - An undergraduate program in Health Sciences with tracks in: • Health Promotion • Pre-Physical Therapy • Minor in Health Sciences - A graduate program in Health Promotion Management

  4. Health Sciences (B.S.) Undergraduate Program Options The undergraduate program provides students resources for developing professional skills in exercise testing, physical activity leadership, and health promotion. Graduates are prepared for beginning administrative, supervisory, and leadership positions in commercial and community health and athletic clubs, in corporate fitness and wellness programs, and for graduate study in Health, Exercise Science, or Physical Therapy. In addition, qualified students may apply for an accelerated B.S. to M.S. program in Health Promotion Management.

  5. Health Sciences (B.S.) Undergraduate Program Options Health Sciences-Health Promotion Track (B.S.)This program reflects the growing national interest in prevention of disease through achievement of optimal health and physical fitness. The degree combines a liberal arts education with core courses designed to develop knowledge and skills specific to the corporate, community, or commercial fitness and health professions.   6. Health Sciences (B.S.) Undergraduate Program Options Health Sciences-Pre-Physical Therapy Track (B.S.)The Pre-Physical Therapy track of the Health Sciences program is for the student planning advanced study in kinesiology, applied physiology, or physical therapy.   7. Health Sciences (B.S.)   8. Health Sciences (B.S.) Undergraduate Program Options Minor in Health SciencesStudents majoring in other areas, such as Business and Psychology, may declare a minor in Health Sciences.   9. Health Promotion Management (M.S.) Graduate Program Option The Master of Science in Health Promotion Management helps students explore both the why and the how of health behavior. The program aims to provide graduates with the knowledge and skills to function effectively as health educators who design, implement, manage, and evaluate health promotion and wellness programs in diverse settings - the workplace, schools, hospitals, and the community.

  10. Health Promotion Management (M.S.) Graduate Program Option The Health Promotion Management program is designed around competencies for graduate-level health educators, which were developed by AAHE, SOPHE, and NCHEC. The degree is different than a Master of Public Health (MPH) in that the HPM program does not require coursework in environmental health and focuses less on biostatistics. However, there are many similarities between people who have a MPH and those who have a MS in HPM.

  11. Health Promotion Management (M.S.) Graduate Program Option Health promotion specialists serve in a variety of roles and job settings. The following are examples of current career opportunities for those with a M.S. in Health Promotion Management:- Educate about health in hospitals, insurance companies, managed care organizations, and corporations. - Create special projects covering various health topics such as prevention of drug and alcohol abuse, and HIV/AIDS through national organizations such as the Council of Chief State School Officers and National School Board Association. - Monitor community health, collect and analyze data, and develop interventions in public health departments and federal agencies, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). - Partner with agencies such as the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, and ChildHelp USA.

  12. Health Promotion Management (M.S.) Graduate Program Option The HPM program prepares students to take the certified health education specialist (CHES) credential exam, which is the only license or certification currently available for public health or health education personnel. The CHES examination is competency-based, and all the competencies assessed on the exam are covered by the HPM curriculum.
