  2. Content • What is ratio? • Simplifying ratio • Sharing ratios steps • Problems to solve (sharing ratio) • You should know

  3. What is ratio? Ratio is used to share and compare two or more quantities. • In ratio the colon is known as ‘to’ 4:5 • Keywords • Add • Divide • Compare • Multiply • share Simplifying ratio Sharing ratio To

  4. Simplifying ratios • 12 : 18 = 2 : 3 • 20 : 16 = 5 : 4 • 21 : 30 = 7 : 10 • 36 : 27 = 4 : 3 • 50 : 16 = 25 : 8 • 25 : 45 = 5 : 9 • 26 : 48 : 36 = 13 : 24 : 18 • 21 : 42 : 49 = 3 : 6 : 7 • 100 : 50 = 2 : 1 • 7 : 20 = 7 : 20 • Divide both sides by 3 - 4 : 6 . Divide both sides by 2 - 2 : 3 • Divide both sides by 4 - 5 : 4 • Divide both sides by 3 - 7 : 10 • Divide both sides by 3 - 12 : 9 divide both sides by 3 - 4 : 3 • Divide both sides 2 - 25 : 8 • Divide both sides by 5 - 5 : 9 • Divide all the sides by 2 – 13 : 24 : 18 • Divide all sides by 7 – 3 : 6 : 7 • divide both sides by 50 – 2 : 1 • Cant be divided – 7 : 20 Simplify: Answer

  5. Sharing ratios steps • Step 1: add the ratio given together. • Step 2: divide the answer it by the number you have to share. • Step 3: multiply the answer by the ratio given(a×r1 and a×r2). • Step 4: to check if your answer is correct add the answer together [if you get the number you had to share then your answer is correct if not recalculate].

  6. Sharing ratios • 28 sweets are shared between Glory and Joy in the ratio 3 :4. Find the amount of sweet they get each. • 3 +4 = 7 • 28 / 7 = 4 • 3 × 4 = 12 • 4 × 4 = 16 Glory gets 12 sweets Joy gets 16 sweets • 45 cards are given between Zed and Gino in the ratio 3 : 2. how many more does Zed gets than Gino? • 3+2= 5 • 45/5= 9 • 3 × 9 = 27 • 2 × 9 = 18 So, Zed gets 9 cards than Gino.

  7. YOU SHOULD KNOW • What ratio is • How to simplify ratio • How to share ratios
