  2. Bethany researched the Port Washington Draft Riots. She actually traveled to the city where the riots took place. She translated letters written at that time.

  3. “I visited Port Washington, Wisconsin, and stood at the foot of the bluff where the rioters had placed a cannon. The experience was very neat when I pictured the mob that had run up that hill nearly 140 years ago.”

  5. “I emailed Tim Ericson at the UWMC Library. He sent me some primary source letters. He also sent me some newspaper articles and other information.”

  7. Luke did the Manhattan Project. His great grandpa wrote him a 2 ½ page letter on why he felt it was right to drop the bomb.

  9. Ali did Carl Brashear. She contacted his son and talked with him about his father.

  11. Morgan interviewed Christine Jacobs, she is the head of the Portage County chapter of Madd. Morgan received many brochures and Mrs. Jacobs answered many of Morgan’s questions. Morgan’s topic is MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers): The Rights of Mothers & Responsibilities of the Government.

  12. Brittney and Anna talked with the widow of Jackie Robinson.

  13. Angela King & Amber Martinez

  14. Angela and Amber contacted Mr. Gissleman who works at the circulation desk at the Marathon County Library who helped them to find many new sources. The girls found 48 sources, including many different types. They sent out 12 business letters and received information back from 4 of them. The title of their project is Environmental Issues: Rights & Responsibilities of Aldo Leopold’s Life and Work.

  16. Adam went to UWMC and interviewed music professor Jeff Ericson. Adam’s topic is Civil Rights: Blacks’ Rights To Play Music And Beyond, The Government’s Responsibilities to Change the Laws.

  17. Abby Jackson & Kelsey Stretsbery

  18. Abby and Kelsey contacted Lisa Gerard, Kelsey’s cousin, who is presently in the military. She is a captain in the Signal Corps, U.S. Army. She is currently stationed in Lafayette, North Carolina. She proved to be a valuable source. She gave the girls her opinions on what she felt about being a female in the military today. Additionally, she provided additional information directly from the U.S. Army. The girls’ topic is Women’s Responsibilities in the Military: “The Right To Fight?”

  19. Brooke Merriam

  20. Brooke extended her research by traveling to Madison and visiting the Wisconsin Historical Society. There she found many primary sources on here topic, Ada James. Through these primary sources, she was able to locate and then interview one of Ada James’ living relatives in Richland Center, Wisconsin. Brooke’s topic is Governmental Responsibility: Ada James, Suffrage Warrior of Wisconsin.
