What is Mentoring? • A relationship aimed to provide professional & personal support to a mentee • Mentor is synonymous with trusted adviser, friend, teacher, wise person • “a brain to pick, an ear to listen and a push in the right direction” • Mentoring is used to assist individuals at specific times of their development and lasts for a defined period of time

  5. Professional Mentoring Scheme • Interact and network with professionals, corporate and business mentors • Explore your career options and plan career goals • Develop key employability skills • Improve self confidence

  6. Professional Mentoring Scheme Cont. • Duration: 4 months • Meetings take place at the mentors workplace • Meet your mentor at least once a month • Topics: CV, application forms, interviews, presentation skills, networking, roles within a sector.

  8. Peer Mentoring Scheme • Opportunity to mentor young pupils at local secondary schools and colleges • Share your knowledge, skills and experience to others • Develop your personal skills • Gain a sense of growth and personal fulfilment

Peer Mentoring Scheme Cont. • Duration: Up to 3 months • Meetings will take place at the University or School/College • Topics: University life, study skills, UCAS applications, interviews, employability skills, part time work, school achievement & beyond, career ambition & pathway, time management, dealing with stress, problem solving, success.
