  4. Task 5.12 – Mobility Improvements • Implemented in the following steps: • Field survey to gather background data • Data processing for the interactive map of access routes in the city • Integrating relevant information requested by local association of disabled residents • Providing the website application online as a free trial for feedback • Continuous improvements and promotion of the website • Preparation of paper maps of access routes and downloadable application for mobile phones in progress

  5. Website features • Continuous viewing of maps in various scales in two modes – street map or orthographic map. • Access routes from its source (PT station or parking lot) to its destination (currently offices, social services and medical facilities, other public buildings are in progress). • Information about barriers on the route – edges, stairs, ramps, etc. • Photo gallery of barriers and critical spots • Videos of each route showing the position on the interactive map. • Detailed information on points of interest in the city. • Downloadable application for a cell phone.

  6. 5.12 – Mobility improvements • Information about the barrier free mobility possibilities within the city • Aimed at disable people and other vulnerable users such as elderly people, mothers with strollers etc. • Content: • Showing the accessibility to the public buildings in the city • Mapping the barrier free routes in the city • Visualizing the routes to and from public transport stations • Showing critical spots – crossroads, bridges, parking, etc.

  7. Interactive maps for mobility 5.12 – Mobility improvements • Barrier free routes are presented on videos showing the passage through the route from the wheelchair perspective • A point on the map is moving in the corresponding position • Specific interactive marks on the map are giving characteristics of the route (critical parts, bumps, visibility to the road, narrow parts, ramps and other descriptions) • Further information are included: pictures, terrain height measurements, links, etc.

  8. http://bezbari.usti.cdsw.cz Results • most of the access routes in the city centre are already barrier free • people with limited mobility are often not able to seek suitable access routes by themselves • the web portal should improve mobility possibilities by providing complex information about city access routes • it is necessary to continue constructing and improving quality of pedestrian routes and conditions for development of non-motorised transport and PT services • deficits on access routes revealed during the field survey were submitted to relevant authorities (City Municipality, City District authorities, Directorate of Roads and Highways of the CR and Regional Authority of the Ústí region) for corrections with priorities of their need of implementation - especially pedestrian crossings in the city centre.

  9. Budget and costs • Purchases: • Website application • Budget 7 000€ • Actual costs cca 5 000€

  10. Evaluation • Survey was performed among city residents by questioners – before state in 2009 and after website implementation in 2011 • Indicators: • Awareness level • Acceptance level • Perception of accessibility • Final evaluation results in progress
