  3. Key Symptoms • Persistent pelvic / stomach pain • Increased abdominal size / persistent bloating • Difficulty eating and feeling full quickly

  4. Emotional Effects • Disbelief / Shock • Fear and uncertainty • Denial • Anger and Blame • Resentment • Withdrawal and Isolation

  5. CNS – Key worker “being the person who, with patient’s consent and agreement takes a key role in coordinating the patient’s care and providing continuity of care” Member of the Network Gynaecology Team (Lancashire and South Cumbria Cancer Services)

  6. Main Function Autonomous Practitioner • Integrating knowledge, treatments into assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patient’s problems and concerns • Applies technical knowledge of cancer treatments. Oversees and coordinates services. Meet complex information / support needs

  7. Main Function Keyworker • Accessible • First point of call • Liaison with Network / Primary / Secondary care • Empathy, knowledge and experience – alleviate psychological suffering • Lead service redesign, improve service, responsive to patient needs

  8. Improve service / Future Design • Designated clinics – patient’s suspected cancer • Twice weekly oncology review clinic • Chemotherapy service • Access to radiotherapy chemotherapy at Preston • Network support • Nurse Led Services • Recent support group • One stop paracentesis clinic

  9. Cancer Journey Complex - Interventions involve various multi professionals Aim : • Strive to achieve seamless care • Improve quality of care and patient experience • Reduce cost to the Trust
