Immediate Treatment • Drug distribution • Distribute aspirin • Why: For prevention • Who: All adults over 50 years of age • How: 1000 Community Health volunteers, with incentives • Saradidi case example of 97% retention in health volunteers, through training and stipends • Distribute CVD Cocktail • Why: For treatment • Who: All adults who have CVD • Why not: Without accurate wholesale prices in Kenya, there is no way to budget for CVD Cocktail

Education • Curriculum Development • Including Health Education • Dental health, nutrition, exercise, first aid, etc. • Adult Education Programs • Teacher Training • Of 132 Peace Corps volunteers in Kenya, Afyawill recruit 20 to train 15,500 Kenyan teachers to implement health curriculum • Incentives: $200 stipend Rheumatic heart disease literature from Kenya Heart National Foundation

Speaking their social language • Focus on EmergingMedia • Social Media-Cell phones: In East Africa, $840 million is involved annually in cell-phone air time, much of with on the internet. • Telecommunication Growth:“In 2002, Kenya had 400,000 lines to a population of 30 million people but has set an ambitious target of 10 lines per 100 people by the year 2015.”
