Some basic facts • Who: Lev Vygotsky • When: he was born on November 5, 1896 and died June11, 1934 • Where: he was born in Russia
Lev Vygotsky • He was a “Soviet Psychologist” and he also study “linguistics and philosophy at Moscow University.” • He then became interested in doing research and so he did for the “Institute of Psychology.” (in Moscow)
Information • Lev Vygotsky also “focused on the role of social and cultural factors in the making of human conscience.” • This is what lead him to begin with his theory of social development.
Information continued • “His works emphasize the socially transmitted knowledge of the teacher and the active engagement of the child in the learning process.”
Four interesting facts • 1913: he won a gold medal • 1917: he taught at various institutes • He was fluent in German and French • He also had a degree in law
