  1. Starting in the 1920’s • The chalkboard and textbooks were used in the early classrooms because there were no other means of education.

  2. Starting in the 1920’s The automobile became a great success during the time of World War II created by Henry Ford. Radio became a great craze by reporting all the daily events.

  3. America in the 1930’s The 1930s became the proving ground for many utopian technological predictions, from skyscrapers to airships. The invention of the telephone, typewriters, and great movement in the movie industry brought great reinforcement.

  4. Technology in the 1940’s On May 15, the Vought-Sikorsky corporation conducts the first completely successful helicopter flight.

  5. Great development in the 1940’s computers became a lifestyle that would be never ending.

Advancement in the 1950’s • On March 29, 1950, RCA demonstrates the first electronic color television tube. • In November 1950, dairy scientists implant an embryo in the uterus of a cow at the University of Wisconsin. • In February 1950, American mathematician Dirk Brouwer uses a computer to predict the orbits of the nine planets in our solar system. • School enrollments increased 30 percent over the decade as the baby boomers, born after World War II. • Two-term president Dwight D. Eisenhower, the decade's dominant political presence, was a paternal figure who was running on the 1952 Republican platform at the age of sixty-two. He became an international hero who had organized the Allied victory over the Nazis and briefly served as president of Columbia University.

Technology of the 1960’s • In July 16, 1969, Neil Armstrong was the first commander of the Apollo 11 which was the first manner mission to land on the moon. • The atm machine was invented in the 1969 that allowed customers to make any banking transactions from anywhere in the world. • Laser equipment and heart pacemakers were invented. • The first atomic bomb is tested by France and other nations became allies to this nation.

Major Trends of the 1970’s • The inventions of the microwave ovens and cassette tape players became an instant hit. • On January 21 1970 , the Boeing 747, the first jumbo jet, is put into commercial service. • IBM introduces the floppy disk in March of 1970. • In Kitt Peak, Arizona, large reflecting telescopes are completed. • The nation’s railroad transportation system was perfected to carry heavy loads and for long distances.

Moving Forward in the 1980’s • In 1983, the Department of Defense of the United States Government invented the Internet. • Japan launched the famous Walkman in 1986 which became a huge overnight success. • Twelve engineers developed the first IBM computer which they named IBM PC on August 12, 1981.

Exciting 1990’s • In 1994, Yahoo became the biggest search engine in the internet. • HTTP and HTML were created in 1991 by Tim Berners-Lee. • By the year 1995, there were over 85 million users of cell phones. • Television totally expanded with digital satellites that allowed movies and programs to be viewed.

Century of 2000’s • Wikipedia, Face book, Google, and YouTube were just some of the great innovations that came along the turn of the century. • Computers, cell phones, every branch of technology has been updated to full speed and children from a very young age are able to use this technology.
