Possible Controlled Burns 2014-2015 • FY14 Woods Mountain, 4000 acres, in Armstrong Assessment Area • FY14 Steels Creek, 4130 acres, not proposed yet • FY14 North Harper, 3148 acres, not proposed yet • FY14 Lost Bear East, 1100 acres, burned 4/2010 • FY15 Lower Wilson Ridge, 1346 acres, not proposed yet • FY15 Dobson Knob, 2600 acres, burned 4/11 and 1/12 • 12,324 acres total
Silvicultural Work • 3469 acres of timber stand improvement and other work possible; 1,200 acres promised. • 247 acres of harvest/restoration in Roses Creek Project/Miller Mountain Stewardship • Another 103 acres of restoration harvests promised over the next 10 years • It should be easy to exceed this goal with Armstrong Creek and another large watershed project
Non-native Invasive Plants • Linville Gorge EA in progress • Forest-wide NNIP EA allows treatment on the rest of the forest. • Treatments on Shortoff and Linville Mountain outside Wilderness can begin immediately • Wilson Creek is a stated priority in the proposal
