Controlled Burns Possible for 2013: 10,845 acres • Adams Mountain  340 acres  burned Spring 2004 • Bee Branch         235 acres   burned Spring 2009 • Boyd Gap             160 acres  burned Spring 2008 • Wilson Ridge      280 acres  burned 4/2001, 4/2008 • Woodruff Ridge 250 acres burned 4/2002, 2/2009 • Spencer Branch  110 acres  burned 2/98 • Cary Flat              200 acres never burned • FY13 Rose Mountain  3070 acres, in NEPA now • FY13 Old Way Ridge approx 3000 acres, in NEPA now • FY13 Upper Creek, 500 acres, in NEPA now • FY13 Mills Creek, 700 acres, in NEPA now • FY13 Lake James, 2000 acres burned 3/2011

Possible Controlled Burns 2014-2015 • FY14  Woods Mountain, 4000 acres, in Armstrong Assessment Area • FY14 Steels Creek, 4130 acres, not proposed yet • FY14 North Harper, 3148 acres, not proposed yet • FY14 Lost Bear East, 1100 acres, burned 4/2010 • FY15 Lower Wilson Ridge, 1346 acres, not proposed yet • FY15 Dobson Knob, 2600 acres, burned 4/11 and 1/12 • 12,324 acres total

  5. Silvicultural Work • 3469 acres of timber stand improvement and other work possible; 1,200 acres promised. • 247 acres of harvest/restoration in Roses Creek Project/Miller Mountain Stewardship • Another 103 acres of restoration harvests promised over the next 10 years • It should be easy to exceed this goal with Armstrong Creek and another large watershed project

  6. Non-native Invasive Plants • Linville Gorge EA in progress • Forest-wide NNIP EA allows treatment on the rest of the forest. • Treatments on Shortoff and Linville Mountain outside Wilderness can begin immediately • Wilson Creek is a stated priority in the proposal
