  3. Students of the Week Congratulations to the following students, who were chosen by the Social Studies Dept., as Students of the Week:

  4. Any student or staff who would like to donate blood, sign up with a Student Council member or with Ms. Clement. The blood drive is October 26. If you are 16, you will need parent permission, so please plan ahead to complete a first time donor card.

  5. Advisory Question Leaders, with two weeks left, are: Hurt – 59% Koch – 50% Hotchkin – 50% Winning advisory class gets donuts.

  6. Attention all seniors: Senior pictures are due November 1 to Mr. Bernard in room F 212. Pictures need to be vertical, head shots preferred, and color preferred. Please submit photos as soon as possible.

  7. Jostens representatives will be back tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 24, during lunches for anyone who would still like to order a class ring or needs warranty adjustments to their class ring.

  8. Do you want to win PIZZA for your 4th hour class? Contribute your change to your 4th hour teacher and support Soles.4.Souls. The competition ends tomorrow, so donate your change today. So far, Mrs. Kloet’s and Mr. Bretz’s rooms are neck and neck for the lead in the fundraiser.

  9. We’ve had a bit of a shake-up in the box tops competition. Mrs. Prinz has moved into first place. Mr. Koch has jumped into second and Mrs. Gregory is in a close third. There will be donuts given for first AND second places! This is your last week to bring in box tops to your first hour class.

Only students with a 2.5 or higher GPA or counselor approval may sign up.

  12. Colleges/Scholarships If you are applying to any college, please use www.Parchment.com to send your transcript to that college. Coca Cola Scholarship – Deadline October 31, 2012 • US Citizens • Anticipating completion of high school diploma at time of application • Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited US post-secondary institution • Carrying a minimum 3.00 GPA at the end of junior year of HS Updated scholarship opportunities are updated weekly on the Student Services webpage. Extra forms and information are available in the Student Services Office. Deadlines are approaching quickly.

  13. MEA Scholarships: See Mr. Lazowski or Mr. Poelstra soon if you would like to apply for this scholarship and if you meet the criteria below: (Deadline is February 8, 2013.) Academic Achievement • School/Community Service • Extracurricular Activities • First consideration given to MEA members (child of MEA members) and students from lower income households http://www.mea.org/mea-scholarship Student Services will pick 10 finalists to submit to the Michigan Education Association.

  14. GR Griffins HS Symposium • Showcases 5 area colleges and exciting programs offered at each school. Followed by a Griffins game. • Hospitality and Tourism at Grand Valley • Automotive Marketing at Northwood University • Health Science at CMU • Sports Management at Aquinas College • Marketing/Advertising at WMU • Where – Van Andel Arena • When – Wed., November 7, 8:30 am – 2 pm • Cost - $2 for bus (officially reserves spot) • Who – Only 10th – 12th grade students interested in the above programs • Limited seats available – sign up in the Student Services office

  15. KHHS Sports News T.O.G. meeting today in the main office conference room after school.

  16. KHHS Sports News • The Girls’ District Volleyball first round game will be played at Mona Shores High School (note location change) on Monday, October 29, at 7:00 p.m. against Mona Shores. All tickets are $5.00 and passes are not accepted.

  17. KHHS Sports News Candygrams will be on sale during lunches and will be delivered on Halloween.
