Important Dates • Commencement: Sunday, May 26, 2013 • Commencement shifts • Limited- Saturday May 18th-Thursday May 23rd • Mandatory- Friday May 24, Saturday May 25, & Sunday May 26 • Application due April 12th by 5:00 PM • Hiring decisions and shift assignments released Wednesday, April 17th • Hiring paperwork- extended SMO hours Thursday, April 18th – Wednesday, April 24th

  3. Application • Link and more information at www.brown.edu/food/commencementjobs • Do not need to be a past/present BuDS employee, but experience helps • We will consider unit preferences and availability

I9/W4 • Required by FEDERAL LAW • Purpose: to prove that you authorized to work in US and to allow employer to withhold correct federal income tax • Original, unexpired documents • Need to write legibly and without any mistakes • Takes up to a week for your paperwork to get processed and you may not work until they are!!

  6. Commencement Housing Information Must currently live on campus What we need to get you housing: • Brown ID • Current room number • Roommate request & their Brown ID • Fee • Note: You will be required to move from one room to the other unless you live in Commencement-designated housing.

  7. Available BuDS Units • Blue Room/Tents • Catering Prep • Catering Services • Ratty Kitchen/Bakeshop/Main Dining Room

  8. Catering Services • All hours! • Setup, Serving, Cleanup • Professional supervision • Functions, large and small • Uniform • Work events for alumni, graduates and their families

  9. Catering Prep • Assemble orders for Catering Department • Open 6am to midnight • Detail-oriented work • No customers, no serving food • All behind-the-scenes work • Gather, check, and load equipment

  10. Blue Room/Tents • Work in Blue Room &“satellite” tents on Main Green • Stock self-service items in tents • Tent assignment is rain or shine • Provide regular Blue Room services

  11. Ratty Kitchen/Bakeshop • Morning to Mid-afternoon • Bakeshop • Pastry arrangements! • Decorating cupcakes! • Kitchen • Appetizer arrangements • No cooking

  12. What Do We Expect From You? • Complete paperwork • (I9, W4, & contract) • Show up on time • Come in dress code (shirts with sleeves, pants, closed toed shoes, hats) • Follow food and safety regulations (because food safety impacts health) • Punctuality • Cooperation

  13. Pay Rates c • New workers- $8.75/hour • Current BuDS workers will receive their current pay rate
