The Prologue • Sonnet: a poem of fourteen lines that follows a strict rhyme scheme and specific structure. • Annotate the prologue – highlight or underline important words or phrases and interpret them - make a guess! What is Shakespeare saying? What does the prologue reveal about the plot of Romeo and Juliet? • What is a possible reason that the Prologue reveals to the audience the outcome of the plot of the play before the play even begins? • What is the point of the last two lines of the Prologue? (i.e. What are these lines indicating to the audience?)
