Thank Heaven AboveTo pray, first remember that: • We are Conscious awareness • We are not alone • We are All One • We did not design ourselves • The Heart is the portal to the Divine • God governs every aspect of our Beings • Love is the Only thing that is Real • All problems have been solved • God is everywhere present

  3. Thank Heaven Above • Prayer is • a state of reception • your natural state • a state of conscious awareness • the state you are in when you have given up all distractions from God • communion with the Divine

  4. Thank Heaven Above • To help to open ourselves to this natural state, we may give our minds something to focus on such as: • one breath • one intention • a characteristic of God • a mantra • a color

Intention is more important than wording You can pray to the Holy spirit or your Guide as well as your Creator Communion requires stillness Stillness takes practice All prayer is answered You will not recognize the answer if you are looking for a pre-determined answer Effective prayer requires: Your understanding that you do not know what is best Surrender of your will Trust in something Greater Thank Heaven AboveWhen you pray, realize that

  6. Thank Heaven Above • The simplest of prayers can be the most powerful, especially if you meditate on one idea, such as, for example: • God’s will be done • May the Light be revealed • I open to kindness • I am loved beyond measure • Peace prevails

Thank Heaven Above • We use focusing tools to quiet the mind until we are able to be still in the silence, at which point we no longer need the tools. • Silence is the appropriate context for experiencing the Divine. • Similarly, if we are posing a question or seeking to speak with our Guide, silence of the ego-mind is needed if we are to hear. • The habit of constant thinking is ingrained. Thank Heaven Above • When we join together in prayer, it is amplified because all mind is shared. • Prayer is not asking for something but rather opening to what is already present. • Conflicting desires can undermine the power of your prayer by arousing conflict or doubt. Simplify and commit to what you really want. • Experiencing God is the ultimate goal of prayer. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all else will be added unto you.”— Matthew 6:33
