  2. Functions and Current Activities of INCTR India Office To coordinate in India, INCTR’s activities in cancer treatment and research. Organisation of meetings, workshops. Liason with funding agencies such as Sir Tata Trust (SRTT) and ICMR for research projects and clinical trials. Liason with participating centres and investigators on the project/ clinical trial.

  3. Functions (contd.) Preparation of progress and financial reports. Coordination of training of personnel. Maintenance of accounts and disbursal of funds. Planning of future activities.

  4. Project on “Improving the Treatment of Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia in Children”. • Jointly funded by INCTR and SRTT (Rs 2,83,56,000 for 3 years. • Patient accrual began in August 2004 at AIIMS,Delhi; Cancer Institute, Chennai; Jaslok Hospital and TMH, Mumbai.

  5. Data Manager/ Monitor training course, November 15th to 19th, 2004 at INCTR Brussels supported by office of International Affairs, NCI. Four data managers and one data monitor attended the course.

  6. Data Manager training course covered basic aspects of good clinical practice and specific issues pertaining to data management and quality assurance of the study.

  7. Continuous monitoring visits by the data monitor at all the four participating centres.

  8. Project review committee meeting in Chennai from March 21st to 23rd, 2005to discuss protocol related issues, eligibility criteria for associate centres, translational research committee and future plans.

  9. A study committee meeting on 7th August in Mumbai to discuss mortality, morbidity and other problems in the conduct of the project and to decide on midcourse corrections.

  10. It was concluded that there was no alarming mortality or morbidity on this protocol to warrant any major amendments and that patient accrual should continue till further comments.

  11. Future Plans Legalisation of INCTR India office. The INCTR charter and other papers have been submitted to achieve this. Coordination and consolidation of the new project. Identification and recruitment of associate centres. Future workshops in India on clinical trials and data management. Expansion of scope of activities beyond ALL in other cancers; Breast, Cervical, NHL Coordinate visits of experts for educational activities. Explore governmental and non governmental sources of funding.
