What are we impressed by/drawn toward? • The Olympians • World Wonders • Big Cities • Youth Have this word - EPIC • Fantasy Worlds • What about His creation? • But what about our God?
God always leaves an Impression • Ex. 19 – Thunder roars and lightning flashes, and clouds envelope the mountain. The mountain begins smoking because God descended as fire and the ground shook from the impact. Then Moses calls out and God thunders his reply! • Rev. 4 – God as brilliant as gemstones and enveloped by every color, and His throne shoots out lightning and rumbles of thunder! All of this being reflected and enhanced by a sea of glass. Not to mention, He is guarded by the four most epic bodyguards in all of creation!
But we need to prepare His Kingdom • Heb 12:1-3 ~ Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
We have a great heritage to follow • 2 Cor. 12:4 ~ was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell. • 2 Cor. 12:10 ~ That is why, for Christ’s sake I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. • Martin Luther – suffered from chronic depression, lead the Christian world into the joys of returning to the basic gospel • John Wesley – looked for more than simply justification and led the Christian world into the realization of sanctification.
Benediction May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen. 2nd Corinthians 13:14
