  3. About Me • This is my 11th year teaching. I have taught 5th grade and 6th grade Math! • Married – 2 children, both went through Kyrene • Love to travel

  4. Absences • The student is responsible for missing assignments and turning them in the required amount of time. • check website • check planner • ask me • ask a “buddy” student • Students are expected to complete all assignments and tests missed during an absence. • For every excused absence, the student is given TWOdays to complete the missing work.

  5. Homework and Classwork: • Full credit can be earned for work submitted on time. • Any work submitted after one day will receive half credit. • Any work two or more days late will receive a zero.

  6. Projects: • Late projects are marked down 10% each day for three days. After three days it’s a zero. • Tests --- Study guides and notes will be provided for tests. Books are not sent home in this class.

  7. Current Events Students will describe a current event using information from class discussions and various resources (e.g. newspapers, magazines, television , internet, books)

  8. Grading Policy Grading: • A------100%-90% • B------89%-80% • C------79%-70% • D------69%-60% • F------Below 60%

  9. Grading Policy My Grades are weighted as the following: • Assessments (Tests, Quizzes, Projects) ------80% • Daily work and Homework ------20%

  14. 6th Grade Curriculum • Economics • Personal Finance • Compare the cost of benefit or using credit • Explain how interest is the price paid to borrow money • Describe the factors lenders consider before lending money
