Introduction: The Beanery mission Allann Bros – The Beanery, established in 1972, set out to explore the exotic flavors in the world of coffee. • Coffee is roasted by guidelines implemented by Allan Stuart, the Master Roaster. • This coffee is then transported to various other Beaneries, to give customers only the best cup of coffee. • Other products: • Bakery Items • Sandwiches • Other drinks: Exploring markets in Tea, Flavored Syrups

  3. Strengths • Location – • Only university towns, mostly within Oregon • Corvallis – 2nd street, 26th street and Circle Blvd. • Flexibility – • Hours – location, customer interest, time ,and area • Optimization of resources • Other businesses within Allann Bros.

  4. Strengths • Free internet – • Makes them at par with Dutch Bros. (lead competitor) • Food and variety of coffee and other drinks – • Coffee – decaf, organic, origin, imports • Other drinks like tea, juice, smoothies. • Cakes, cookies, pastries, and other bakery items • Food options extend to sandwiches, salads, soup etc

  5. Weaknesses • No events on calendar for shops in Corvallis • Space allocation: crowding in various locations • Prices: more costly than other coffee shops due to organic imports • Coffee plant crop subject to unpredictable climatic changes

  6. Opportunities • Expansion • Crowded shops prove there is room for growth with new franchises • Buying up surrounding real estate would allow more room for customers • More room would give a venue for musicians to hold live performances • Catering menu • Expanding the menu to include dinner entrees would be a simple means of diversification

  7. Threats • Competition: Shares territory with other coffee-specific shops • Starbucks • Dutch Brothers • Also shares territory with other big businesses • McDonalds • Burger King

  8. Threats • Can find coffee just about anywhere that serves food • Must be aware of local competition in order to know how they can separate themselves and make their business unique • Coffee business subject to rises in the price of coffee and dairy products

  9. Threats • The Beanery imports Arabica coffee bean varieties from regions around the globe • Have to deal with foreign countries that may have different government regulations, policies, and monetary regulations from the U.S. • Issues may arise if there is a lack of understanding of the host country’s foreign exchange policies • Any disruption in the process would cause the business to lose its main source of income
