  2. Blocked Mail Reporting • Blocked mail reports can now be sent via email daily (previous 24 hours) or weekly (Mon 6am – Mon 6am) around 6am • Formats: plain text (default), HTML, or CSV (comma-separated values) • Sort by date/time (default), originator address, or IP address

  3. Incoming Mail Controls(proposed) • User-maintained exceptions (whitelist) • Adding exceptions for an entire domain • Allowing arbitrary user input • User-maintained blacklist • Arbitrary email address or domain • Useful for blocking free email providers

  4. Inbox Auto-Filing • 17,799 eligible users notified • 11,447 users auto-filed total (i.e. mailbox scanned, possibly filed) • 4,538 remain > 20MB (395 remain > 100MB!) • 1,175 users auto-filed on 11/8 • 834 mailboxes contained eligible messages • 62,421 (5GB) of 382,099 (56GB) messages filed

  5. Phase-out of clear-text passwords • 2,799 users remain insecure • 2309 TC client/server (aquamarine) • 302 TC premium (garnet) • 188 Morris client/server (cougar) • Moving users at a rate of 250 per day to secure E-mail servers

  6. Outgoing SMTP Issues • smtp.umn.edu services are now restricted to central e-mail users only • OIT Security continuing to look at scanning servers authorized to use relay.tc.umn.edu • Timeline for smtp-gw.tc.umn.edu service phase-out approx. 1Q2006

  7. Sponsored Wireless Access • Staff/faculty can sponsor wireless access for another person • Good for both TC & Duluth campuses • Allows wirewall auth only (no e-mail) • Expires at midnight after two days • http://www.umn.edu/dirtools/sponsor-wireless

  8. Wireless for Conferences • Request up to 100 accounts/batch • Start and stop dates are required • IDs are recycled after expiration • TC campus only • Allows wirewall auth only (no e-mail) • http://www.umn.edu/dirtools/sponsor-confwireless
