  1. What is COPD:  An Overview about risk factors and comorbid conditions?

  2. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is a serious healthcare issue that gets worse with the increase in pollution and tobacco consumption. During this disease, people go asymptomatic unless they undergo some serious exacerbation or reach an acute stage. Before moving onto the details, let’s first know about ‘What is COPD’

  3. What is COPD?  Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease is the progressive disease of lungs which is poorly reversible and it is one of the major causes of morbidity and mortality in many cases. It comprises the two major lung diseases known as emphysema and bronchitis. Chronic bronchitis has symptoms such as severe cough and sputum generation. Emphysema occurs due to the opening of enlarged air spaces and the destruction of lung disease. This disease is categorized by the obstruction in airflow which is partially reversible. COPD is considered as one of the main reasons of death after cardiovascular disease in the USA.  The top cause behind COPD is tobacco smoking and exposure to chemical irritants for a long period. Some risk factors will make you understand the disease clearly.

  4. Risk Factor of COPD Smoking cigarettes, especially the shared one, is considered to be the main cause behind COPD.  Occasional or regular exposure to chemical irritants, dust, fumes, and lung irritation are also responsible for causing Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.  People who have a history of Long lung diseases are prone to passing the disease to their kids.  Deficiency names as Alpha 1 antitrypsin are also responsible for the cause of COPD. People who have emphysema should be examined because they are more likely to develop COPD especially those who have it before the age of forty.  Comorbidities ofCOPD Doctors should be aware of the comorbid conditions that happened during COPD. This can adversely affect the health update and treatment management of the person. Chronic pulmonary disease is not only associated with respiratory disease but also with disease affecting major organs like the heart. The risk related to COPD is associated with pneumonia, osteoporosis, respiratory infection, myocardial infections, etc. This disease is also associated with clinical depression.

  5. The diagnosis process includes imaging tests, lung function tests, and blood tests. There is no cure for COPD however, there are some treatment methods that can ease the symptoms. These treatment methods are mentioned below-  Medications used for preventingCOPD Bronchodilators- These are the medications that help in relaxing the muscle tone of the airways which help in widening and opening the airways. Therefore, uninterrupted flow of air through airways.  It lowers down the risk of other respiratory infections also.  Oxygen Therapy- If you’re feeling low on oxygen levels, and oxygen therapy is provided through a mask won around either mouth or nose. This establishment is provided by your Doctor.  Basic Lifestyle changes If you make some basic changes to your lifestyle, you can certainly get over the chances of getting severely infected.  If you use shared smoke, stop it immediately because it can harm you.  Get the proper nutrition required for a healthy body.  Maintain a proper workout routine.  These were the methods used for preventing ‘What is COPD’
