  2. Skeeter • Skeeter displayed every trait of diversity consciousness. • She did all these unknowing that she was help.

  3. Examine ourselves and our world • examined herself and her world of Mississippi when she got the job at the local newspaper. • Selfish intensions. • Always looking at herself because she felt some what inadequate because her mother. • She realizes that Aibileen and a lot of the other black community has something to say while working on the column but can’t say it because they don’t want to lose their job, or even worse.

  4. Expanding Knowledge of others and their world • When she gets into more of a friendship with Aibileen she starts to learn more about Aibileen and many other maids in the area. • She never realized how harsh these ladies really had it because she only saw the exterior and not what was really going on in the interior • She gave the black community a voice that no one else would listen.

  5. Stepping outside yourself • The moment that she heard Aibileen’s entire story I feel she stepped outside of her own shoes and in to Aibileen’s. • Hardest time to step outside your self and in to someone else’s shoes because of how much racism that was in the area. • . If Skeeters friends found out that she was writing “The Help” she would have been shunned

  6. The Playing field. • Small playing field. • Tons of risks through all of the community on both sides of the fence.

  7. Examining yourself. • Skeeter examined herself more then she would have any other way because of the book she was writing. • Never wanted the two communities divided • Mainly because she was raised by a black women named Constitine. • She learned about a handful of black women’s lives due to the fact that she was openminded.

  8. Following through • Though all the way through the book it was sort of selfish, she went through a lot with Aibileen and Minny. • She made sure that both were greatly compensated for their efforts in the book • Didn’t want to go after she was offered the job in New York but was swayed to go.

  9. Conclusion. • Skeeter though intentions were selfish she gave many ladies a voice that no one would pay attention to till after all the book was finished.
