Program of Studies • The Program of Studies can be found on the Guidance Page on the Windham High School Website: www.windhamhighschool.org • As you read through the Program of Studies (POS) begin to identify courses that: • are graduation requirements • are NH Scholar requirements • interest you

WHS Graduation Requirements • English – 4 years (1 credit per year): Cultural Foundations; American Studies; Modern World Literature • Writing – 0.5 credit • Social Studies – 3 credits: Cultural Foundations; American Studies; Economics (0.5); Government (0.5) • Math – 3 credits: Algebra I • Science –3 credits: Integrated Science; Biology • ICT –0.5 credits: Comp Apps; Digital Media I; Graphic Design; etc. • Arts –1 credit: Music, Theater or Visual Arts • Health –0.5 credit: Wellness • Physical Education – 1.5 credits: Human Performance I & II • Open Electives –7 credits • Service Learning –40 hours (10 hours per year)

  4. Recommended Freshman Year Schedule: • English (Cultural Foundations) • Social Studies (Cultural Foundations) • Math • Science (Integrated Science) • Foreign Language • Human Performance I • Wellness • Writing • 0.5 Elective • Full Year Academic Study

  7. Course Selection • The first day to register for classes is Monday, March 3rd at 9am • Registration will remain open until Friday, March 14th at 3pm • Students must meet the prerequisites in order to register for classes

Course Override(s) If there is a discrepancy between your child’s recommended level and where you feel your child should be placed, please schedule an appointment with the appropriate high school academic dean.   9. Promotion Credit Requirements At the completion of 9th grade, students will need to have earned at least 6 credits and 10 hours of community service to be promoted to the 10th grade

  10. What is New Hampshire Scholars? • It is part of the State Scholars Initiative, a national program, that uses business leaders to motivate students to complete a rigorous course of study in high school • Challenge yourself! Go beyond your high school graduation requirements

  11. New Hampshire ScholarsCORE CURRICULUM • English: 4 years • Math: 3 years • Science: 3 years lab based(Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, AP Sciences) *Integrated Science is not considered a lab based science • Social Studies: 3.5 years • Foreign Languages: 2 years
