If the neighboring countries extract water at a rate of 1380 MCMY it is calculated that the reserve would last 4860 years. Over extraction in these basins has resulted in seawater intrusion in the coastal aquifers with TDS levels reaching 7000ppm in the Tripoli region These basins contain 10,000 – 12,000 cubic Km. of economically extractable water
