Instructions • In this station you will be learning you will be learning how to analyze a theme from a literary text. • Echo and Narcissus is a myth that explores human nature and what happens to us when we are absorbed only in ourselves.
Anticipation Questions Decide whether you agree or disagree with the following statements: • People judge others by their looks alone. • People judge others on more than their looks • Vain, self-centered people are often punished for their behavior. • Vain, self-centered people often get away with things.
Quickwrite • Which of the previous statements do you agree or disagree with most strongly? • Explain what you think about that statement and why. • Use examples from your experiences.
Now turn to page 523 in the Holt Literature Book (green) • Begin reading the story of Echo and Narcissus. Each person in your group must read a part of the story.
Page 527 • Answer all of the questions on page 527 including the reading check questions. • You may discuss the questions together, but each person must write the answers on their paper.
