The Captain Steve Bravo Steve Bravo was a captain intrepid were his ways The St. Lucie was the steamboat on which he spent his days Paid by Mr. Flagler but for no extra charge He’d tell a joke to the passengers then he’d give ‘em a good yarn Yo ho Steve Bravo let that steamer sail From Titusville to Jupiter and all down the Indian River Won’t you give us a tall tale Steve Bravo was a legend he saved a farmer from a bear He heard his cries from miles away with his ear pinned in the air He boasted of his fishing skills and passengers tried to learn To make Pompano jump right in the boat he’d hang a lantern from the stern Yo ho Steve Bravo let that steamer sail From Titusville to Jupiter and all down the Indian River Won’t you give us a tall tale Perhaps his tallest tale was one he lived to tell About the St. Lucie and those big hurricane swells It was feared there were no survivors and the boat lost to the storm But Steve showed at his own funeral and he told ‘em not to mourn Yo ho Steve Bravo let that steamer sail From Titusville to Jupiter and all down the Indian River Won’t you give us a tall tale
